Christmas Day 2011, as far a food goes, caramel rolls

We had the caramel rolls and a day long affair of cooking and eating, nothing too interesting.  I tried a variation on a meal I had seen, where hashed browns were layered under a meat and covered with a sauce, like cranberry.  Not much of anything.  You will see the caramel roll recipe, that was interesting.   The rest of the day was not.  The blueberry/cherry pielettes were tart and unremarkable, oh well.   I keep looking for a pie crust recipe.   I found one I will share with you when it is perfected.  It is a puff pastry recipe and so far it looks good.   In the next few days I will have time to make it work, but not yet.   Christmas is celebrated differently for everyone.  I love the down time with my family, so beautifully quiet, no expectations, just enjoy the moment as much as you can.

I had the opportunity to have a heart to heart with a friend I have had over a dozen years now, and I really appreciated the time she took from her busy life to share a few moments with me.  Heart felt.   I appreciated it and look forward to spending a little more time with her in the future.
