Scalloped potatoes |
Oven at 350 F
4 cups milk
4 tbsp flour
4 tbsp butter
6 potatoes sliced
Shredded cheese
Chunks of ham
Make white sauce with butter, milk, and flour. You want it thick enough to pour over the potatoes but not too thick so that it only sits on top. Pancake batter thickness might be too thick. Creamy soup might be just right. You will have to experiment, because if it is too thin, it will end out watery, if it is too thick, the sauce will cook before the potatoes. Layer potatoes, ham and cheese in large baking dish. Pour white sauce over it. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour or until bubbly.
This was a great recipe, the potatoes were delicious. It is great comfort food. A meal in itself. It can be accompanied by fresh vegetables and guacamole dip, or cooked vegetables. Dessert, premade is always a possibility. I had the opportunity to share in a special cake, which I understood was for a friend named Andy. I imagined a birthday cake and singing and gifts, but if you can see this cake image, you will understand how I let my imagination go. I still couldn't stop myself from singing Happy Birthday to "Ande". Afterwards a great card game of Crowned. It was fun and easy and fast and everyone participated. Great Friends, Great Family, Great Food and Great Fun. My idea of a perfect evening. Hope you all are enjoying your New Year the way I am.

If Andy sees this, tell him it was a great cake and we're sorry he wasn't there to enjoy it. |
